I’m trying to make it look like a river is flowing, but without using the fluid simulator because that seems like it would be WAY overkill. The river will be seen from a top down view (I’m making an arena for a game I’m making). I was thinking of using an animated texture, but I don’t know how I’d animate it.
Ok I figured it out shortly after I posted. What I did was I made a plane, subdivided it a few times, scaled it into a long strip, then parented it to a curve that followed the river, and had it stretch along the path, then animated the plane with a texture applied to make it appear as though the river was flowing. Then I added a bunch of extra stuff like bump maps and such.
