Finally, a new landscape design! This time a new approach to work out a nature landscape with a simple building design. I needed a lot of photo scans to get the result I was looking for. Most of the scanned objects are mine, some are from other libraries.
While I was working on the autumn scene, I was curious how a snow landscape would fit the scene. By changing the shader, I was amazed how powerful the scans react on a layer of snow. Nice detail is the bridge brick where a thin layer of snow is laying on top of the bricks.
For this environment scene I made a couple of location visits to capture tree barks/stumps, rocks, gates, window frames and the terrain surfaces. I like this way of working to combine scans with hand made models.
You can find lots of the texture scans on the polyhaven platform. Free cc0 content.
Beautiful, I especially like the square summer/winter comparison. Difficult to decide but for me winter wins (I love crisp sunny winter days). Excellent all round.
Also want to mention that your Udemy course on landscape and village modeling is priceless. I learned so much!
On top of that, I’d like to thank you for your collaboration on Poly Haven with your textures. Amazingly generous and empowering to beginner artists like me :-).
Great work, really impressing.
You used photo scans for some of your objects. Did you simplify the mesh for the model, remodel or how did you handle complex mesh?
