I’m starting one of my projects again. I got the inspiration by checking the Blender Weekday Competition. I decided to do a dragonfly but a robotic version of it.
And I finally figured out how to do a decent lighting set - up:eyebrowlift:.
I modeled the dragonfly itself already. Here’s what I got:
And a little render of it:
Ok, back to improving, I should definitely add some wings…
C&C-s welcome.
Looks great. I like the detail. I’m interested to see if you can make materials and lighting as good as the model, but I’m sure you’ll post that as you progress. I’d be interested to see a wireframe if you’d post it.

I hope I can make all that happen. The wireframe is here:
@Rore : The dragonfly modeling is very nice.
Shouldn’t it have 2 engines on the back? Hmm… well, not if you add wings maybe.
If you manage to recreate the shiny material that there’s on some dragonflies, that’ll be awesome.
Nope I decided to go for only 1 engine, and yes the wings are here! But for the material you’ll have to wait a bit…
So, on to the update.
Added the mechanical wings, truly a pain to model… Took me about half an hour… So here are the images:
