OK, so here is the first couple of images from a series of models that I’m doing of robot heads. Most of these will be based on some doodles I did a while back.
This is primarily an exercise in improving my modelling and texturing skills (particularly image maps - trying to break my habit of always using procedurals), although I’m also picking up some things about compositing and scenes along the way.
Very nice renders … I like the first and the third one , the robots are cute but why are they sad ? The third doesn`t look like a head to me… Btw on the third render , there is some sort of black lines outlining the head … is that artifact of some kind ?
Thanks! Those two are my favourites so far (particularly the third (Imp)). I’m not that happy with Flatface either so I will probably be revisiting it with a view to making it more face like.
I also agree that they are all a little depressed so far, probably because it is easier to make a sad face than a happy one! Just another cliche I’m going to have to avoid, I guess.
The black lines are an artifact - I’ve used a fresnel node to mix a white diffuse shader with a glossy shader to get the plastic, which in general gives an effect I prefer to a straight mix of the two but also gives this black line. I’m going to keep tweaking to see if I can get rid of it.
