I recently found 2 new apps, Alchemy and MyPaint from watching this painting timelapse found on BlenderNation a while back. Awesome video! Watch it if you got 20 spare minutes 
First I say one thing, I’m a 3D guy, not a 2D digital painter, so that’s why my results are not that great.
Anyway, I thought I’d share a robotic claw that I made using both programs. First image is straight out of Alchemy and second is a finished piece done with MyPaint. (and GIMP for cropping)
Crits are very welcome and I’ll just keep working on my shading
