Rocket Car

Progress Update:
I’ve added the air intake ducts behind the front grille, a ceiling for the cabin interior, grilles to cover the holes around the front engines, redid the undercarriage with air exhausts for the vertical thrusters, and most importantly added a paint job to the car!

The paint is a combination of procedural patterns, vertex colours and an image texture. Having the paint procedural allows for easy colour and pattern adjustments, at the cost of the total control of texture painting. Since I had no idea what I was doing, this was a worthy trade!

I think it makes the car much more interesting visually, although maybe a bit less readable? I’ve tried to use the blue highlights to remedy this.
Next on the agenda is to create a driver character.

Any suggestions for improvements to the colours, patterns or anything else would be welcomed!

Progress update:
The car has a driver!
He was made using Makehuman, and I modelled the clothes and helmet myself. Rigged using rigify.

Here’s a whole car render with the driver now:

I’m pretty happy with how the car has turned out. Time to start work on the animation!
