Since I’ve started doing some 3d sculpting again I figured I could start one of these threads. Had real fun with the new brushes this weekend, Crease and Clay are my two addictions but overall all brushes feel really nice. Only thing I’ve noticed is that sometimes they seem to shift from addition/subtraction on their own (or I’m doing something weird) when changing from brushes. Ok, here’s an old hag I started on this weekend:
Going to make her a bit more saggy and lean. Used the same female basemesh and got a wolf-thingy, yep them boobs need to go:
Also did a little proportional/detail work on Lazarus:
Again, gotta love the new sculpturing brushes, team Blender keeps rocking my world!

Thanks, as for the material I can’t take any real credit. I used a file from here somewhere which came complete with a nice matcap like material, all I did was to make this simple sphere and use it as texture:

Thanks, actually the topology is quite ok, quite evenly spaced quad basemesh. However, in the early stages of sculpting I use alot of ‘grab’ to change proportions etc which sort of messes the clean flow up a bit, still I don’t see any problem with that. Also, this is still at a very low subdivision level (currently subdivided to 24564 polygons) so alot of the rough spots will be smoothed out in the next subdivision levels. And if disaster strikes, like you mentioned there’s always retopology to save the day
Ben
Thanks, love your stuff! I really try to get as much detail/form as I can out of each subdivision. I used to have the bad habit of subdividing to very high levels and then start the sculpting which often led to ‘blobby’ results.

Thanks dude! I think I have ‘some’ anatomy knowledge but really I need references BAD. I often start by ‘winging’ it and think ‘hey, this ain’t half bad’ and then I start looking at some real life stuff and I see tons of anatomy errors. This is why it’s always so relaxing sculpting cartoony/fantasy characters
Ok, a bit of an update here atleast, I’m going to do some more work on the legs/pelvis area and then I’m going to leave the front alone for a while and start working on the back:
great work! im new to blender and i was wondering if anyone out there knew any good tutorials on the game engine, modeling, animating, or anything else i should know. thanks!
