I featured you on BlenderNation, have a great weekend!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it ![]()
Hey Anaël, It’s a nice piece of art !
I’m looking into stylized stuff myself and I hope you don’t mind me asking questions :
In a case like this, how you handle light and colors for something like the clouds ?
Do they have an unique material and it’s light and environment that makes the gradient in the distance ? Or you mix different material/colors to have full control over that gradient ?
Would you use stuff like volumetrics to make that gradient or is it faked in the material by tweaking distance to camera ?
Thanks in advance and sorry if that feels a bit silly, I’m having a hard time in a few area to get the NPR mindset !
Keep up the good work, I’ve noticed your stuff regularly it’s pretty cool !
Thank you very much for the compliments on my work, really appreciate it.
Well, I like to experiment with combining different shaders until I get the result I want. I mainly use Emission, ColorRamp, Fresnel, Gamma, and MixShader
I use the object’s normal as I rotate it, the clouds aren’t affected by the light, there’s only one light source that affects the color of the teapot. I never use texture images in my objects, I only use colors and, very rarely, gradients. I make extensive use of light and color effects. I really rarely use volumetrics, I don’t really like it, I prefer to experiment with transparent color models combined with lighting.
In compositing, I use Deth Atmosphere, which I combine with Bloom and some strange mixtures that blend together to achieve the result. It can take several hours or a few days to figure out the composition in my head.
