Is there a way to rotate it the way you would if you drawing on a piece of paper, so clockwise and counter?
MMB drag horizontally ought to do that…
Al though it might have to do with whether you use trackball or turntable rotation.
Well I will explain better with an example:
use your number pad and press 7, now use 4 & 6 to go around it, now switch to front or side view and try it. Arggg, doesn’t work in side/front view. Turnable only works around the up axis, I want the axis to be orientated from the view, (like from the global, normal, local, view, thing beside the hand circle triangle and square).
I don’t quite get what your saying but I’ll try and help. do you use the numpad to change view or the mouse? if you use numpad you can change view using 8,2 up and down 4,6 side to side 1,7,or 3 for front, top,and right you can also hold alt and press 7,3,or 1 to go the bottom back and left view.
if you use the mouse press down the scroll wheel and drag the mouse around on windows and linux or hold alt/option down and move the mouse around on mac.
Hope that helped if not you will have to explain better.
I guess it is kind of hard to explain
There is one horrible solution, that may help you understand:
If I put my screen on a stand that rotated, but then all the font would be sideways or upside down. It is true that you can get the same result in turnable, but only when you are in top view.
It seems there is no solution to my problem :(. But then again it isn’t really needed just something that suits my style. oh wells.
thanks for the help.
I think you want this type of rotation?
or
Both are done in Blender
No no… I don’t think it is what he means…
Look at the very first post: he means rotating the view just like if you were rotating your monitor, not around the object. Like if the centre of the screen were the point of rotation and everything would rotate 2D around that point.
It would work if you were using your scene through a camera, then select the camera and rotate (constraining the local Z axis)
You saying like This Rotation. http://blender3d.patricia.googlepages.com
Please describe the requirement, I will try to solve your problem.
yes!! you can do it in the camera
but then you lose the grid
and it would be really slow. It is just like drawing a picture you rotate the page to draw certain lines better.
Of course lots of people may think this is dumb.
