RotX, RotY and RotZ values not equal to 0

Why are the RotX, RotY and RotZ values not equal to 0 when I start an IPO rotation curve on this part?

I have set the origin to the center of the mesh.

Thanks

Hit ctrl+A to apply scale and rotation before setting IPO curves.

Those values = 0 only when the local axes line up on the global ones. You could create all your objects in top view or do as already suggested.

Thanks! I did change the parts orientation and center so they looked ok using the top, right and front views. I missed that you have to apply the rotation for the parts object axis to go back to 0,0,0.

Thanks again!

Just to make sure that you won’t run into some other problem later:
there are two ways to set the rotations of an object to 0:
1- you could use Ctrl+A > Apply scale and rotation; this won’t rotate your object
but it will set the Scale of it to 1, something that can affect your work in
many ways.
2- you could use Alt+R > Clear rotation which will rotate you object
lining it up with the global coordinates.
