Round the shape

Hi there!

I would like to modell a spot lamp but it has got a very stupid form. It’s base contains only curves no staight lines. I searched a bit on the net (2 hours) after tutorials or posts, how to create curves and than how to work with them. I could create the base in 2d with blender, but I could not extrude it. This is a problem. I tought, I will try with mash tools again, with no succes. I tried to round the end of the object with sphere and something vey interresting turned out.
So pls help me, how can I create a curve and than make it 3D or extrude or sth. like this.
A sample how I tryed:

Hi vargadanis.
Here’s how you can extrude a curve into 3d space in Blender.
Select the curve in Object Mode. Then go to the Curve and Surface panel in the Editing Buttons and LMB + Drag over the Extrude slider to set depth. (you can also do Shift + LMB over it and enter an exact amount)

To make it a mesh, type Alt + C. Choose Keep Original so your curve object doesn’t get deleted.
