Rowboat (Substance texturing project)

I finally got my hands on Allegorithmic’s Substance tools over the holidays and started a new project to try them out. The modeling is pretty basic in this. My main focus lies on texturing.
There are still some elements missing. This is my progress so far:

I’m going to add more dirt in certain areas as well as add a few more objects when I get around to it.

It looks very good, especially the texturing. Since it looks like you’re going for realism though, you might want to add 2-3 cross ribs under the seats to support the bottom. But perhaps that’s what you meant by missing elements? A minor issue is the direction of the wood grain along the top of the hull near the bow. Since the wood is bent into a curve (judging by the wood texture along the sides), the grain along the top should follow that curve.

You’re right, the boat certainly isn’t perfect. I don’t know much about boats and I just modeled it without a reference until I liked the look of it. Do you mean like supporting ribs right beneath the seats?

Yeah, I’m aware of this issue. The problem is the uv mapping. The boat is slightly tilted upwards, which makes it very tough to correct. But I’ll see what I can do to fix it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Worked on the textures some more, but I’m still nowhere near done yet.
