Rpg - "track" to ground?


I’m making a rpg sort of game. My problem is: How do you get the character to “track” to the ground, so that if you for example move up a hill, you will continue do move on the ground, and not just move through it into nothingness:D Sorry if this is a very noobish question.

make it an Actor/ Dynamic one, maybe?!

I’ve been wondering if there were a way to do this without dynamic properties, is there a way?
