Rubik's Cube

Hi,
I tried to make a photorealistic scene, like a random picture you would take with your phone.
so there isn’t any composition here and the objects are placed randomly.

Well,
you kind of succeeded I guess. The coloros seem to me a little oversaturated but still… Why would you take such a picture? I see no point. Even with a mobile phone I don’t go around taking random pictures. You usually want to capture something - beauty or story (or both!) And while this looks at least semi realistic, no one is gonna look at it, why would they?

Sorry for being harsh  I mean no offense. I guess I kind of understand what you meant. Some pictures are too orderly and staged to seem realistic, but still you have to have some point for the picture. It is not a bad idea actually, make a picture that does not look staged and seems to be taken spontaneously, but you HAVE TO have some reason for taking it. Some point of interest is essential.

Thanks for the criticism , well i made this to test scratch maps and roughness maps and to see how real can i make it look.

Yeah, I figured it was more of a test. And indeed all the scratches and variations in roughness seem rather well done. As mentioned allready I feel the color on the cube to be kind of oversaturated and the depth of field seems blown out as well. Especialy short lenses in mobile phone cameras would not get that blurry that fast. Also I am sure you are aware that it would need quite more samples to render clean. And if it looks like I am only critisizing, then once again I apologize. I really feel like the technical aspect of the image is not bad at all. There is just not much to talk about.

But I really would love to see an image made with that kind of approach. To make it look like a real, spontaneus photo. So by all means, please share if you make something new
