Though this will bring some needed gaming competitions (as ray tracing hardware is still not powerful enough on the RTX to play 1440p 60fps, let alone the 4k 60fps) but for our needs, ray tracing (based on Optix speedups) is almost becoming a must. That is even with AMD’s ProRender that will include “hybrid” render (ewuivalent to Eevee + Cycles in one pass)

But the Navi 12/14 have been identified in a few AMD drivers in Linux and few other areas. So they do exist, however what they are, as per the rumour, is a best guess. for all they could be are the new Mobile 5300m and 5500M.

Nvidai with their 1660 Super, AMD Ryzen 3950x & Threadripper 3991? (24 core) confirmed by AMD. So might as well release some GPU’s
Gaming wise, AMD just anouced the Image Sharpening support for VEGA cards, which means even less reason to upgrade to the 5700xt.
In the end October/November will be another set of interesting launches.
From my side, I have fingers crossed on a RX5800 XT, Nvidia needs competition.
Is it controllable? I have monitors with builtin sharpening, but damn was I fast to turn it off.
Would absolutely suck if this was enabled by force ignoring non gaming use.
I have Vega64 under Mint Cinnamon (I’m a complete Linux noob), but I’m unable to install the drivers so I’m left without OpenCL.
