Running Blender on the Macintosh Platform

Recently, I’ve been considering purchasing a faster computer to accomplish more in Blender. I’ve done a fair amount of research regarding hardware for IBM-based and MacOS platforms and have found comparable computers and/or computer parts on both sides.

Question A: Does Blender run more efficiently or quickly on a Mac?
Question B: Would it be wise to spend money on a Mac or PC?

P.S: Macs rule.

intel mac is my answer. you have a fast intel cpu but a much better operating system!

I agree with cekuhnen. Is there a good compiled version of blender or mactel that uses dual core? I have an old iMac G5 1.8. It renders close to par for most things as a P4 3.0 HT.

Check out this site though for the real answer.

Honestly, I’m considering a switch to an Athlon X2 (prob 4200) and run some distro of linux - all for $1500 cdn. Would like to hear more about mactels and blender, I know there’s a few builds floating around - would be nice to see a benchmark of sorts. It’s slow through rosetta. - I’ve tried.
