Safe value for Margin parameter when baking

Hi all!!

Well, I baked some textures for a character and when I was doing some render tests I came across with a big problem:

when I rendered the model with the camera close to it, everything was alright, but as the camera went away from the model, the UV seems of the bump textures began to show up.

I disabled mip mapping in the textures, but the problem persisted. After trying lots of things, I realized that the problem was not actually in the distance of the model from the camera, but in the resolution the model was rendering at. The further away from the camera the less pixels the model was made of, and the Seams became bigger. It seemed like if the anti aliasing that Blender applied to the image when downscaling it was smoothing out the borders of the UV islands a little too much, and they ceased to have the correct colors for a seamless mapping.

So, I gave up trying to get a way around it with the rendering settings and rebaked the textures, and I started playing with the ´´margin´´ values. I originally had a value of 8, which I thought it was enough in a 4k image, but after baking several times, I ended up with a margin value of 25 in order to make the seams disappear when the model was away from the camera.

Well, please share your thoughts and your experience in this matter.

definitely 32…
