Sometimes when I make a shader using OSL script it randomly crashes. Isn’t there some kind of basic safety feature anywhere that can just limits the CPU usage?
Wait really? Nothing? Wow that is surprising, I thought for sure there would be a script implied from the OSL documentation.
It might be better to create a GLSL shader in a specialized IDE with extensive debugging and profiling and once you have established all the essential knowledge and experience you can do a port with “eyes closed” to OSL.
Unfortunately I don’t know if there are any good OSL IDEs since OSL usage is very specialized and limited in comparison to GLSL that is far more popular.
