Same animation for different objects at different times (using drivers?)

Hi,

in blender 2.64:

I want to animate some text/objects (scale it from 0 to 1 in 10 frames, so it just appears). Later on in my animation, I want some other text/objects to appear in the exact same way (on a different location).

I want to be able to modify the original animation (say, scale from 0 to 1.5 in 7 frames and then to 1 in 3 more frames) and this should now work for all other objects.

I guess there is an easy way using drivers or constraints, but I need some hints.

Any suggestions are more than welcome,
thanks in advance,

I’m not really experienced with it myself, but you can use the NLA editor for this.

Keyframe an object with 0-1 scaling only, rename the Action “Scaling” in the Outliner.
Now you can insert “Scaling” on any object’s NLA track, and slide it wherever you want. If you want to use Location-animation with the objects at different origins, you probably have to offset them with parenting.

I’m not sure how to add NLA tracks to objects without first giving them individual animation and turning it into an NLA-thing, before deleting it and adding the proper one. There’s probably a better way, but that’s the only one I know of.

Thanks,

that worked for me.
