Sandstorm shape

Hey everyone.
Unfortunately, I have been failing for some time to model something similar to the attached screenshot. At the beginning I tried to simulate the whole thing with smoke and create a mesh from it - unfortunately the whole thing didn’t look nearly as harmonious as in the rendering - especially the different thicknesses from the bottom to the top are difficult. Does anyone have any tips on how I can approach this? Any help would be appreciated.

why no just sculpt it? use the image as a background reference

ty for the reply. Unfortunately I’m not really experienced in sculpting. Do you have any general tips to achieve this or tutorials that may be helpful? thank you!

well, sculpting/modeling is how I would go about it.

there is a great modeling technique called “strip modeling” as seen in the video below, that might inspire you to tackle this shape through modeling alone, (no sculpting needed, only edit mode, extrude, and sub-d modifier)

as for different approaches to get this model, like for example, simulation, or maybe using the geometry node editor - I believe this could be done but I myself have no experience or any idea how to achieve it that way,

best of luck:

Maybe a cloth simulation could get something close, though you wouldn’t have as much control as manually modeling it.

Welcome :tada:

Maybe something like this:

…can you have some ideas ??
