Sapling addon -- Where did the parameter panel go? How to get it back?

When using the sapling addon to make a tree, occasionally the parameter-setting panel disappears, and I cannot get it back. [This happens, for example, when selecting some other object (such as the leaves, to set their color), and then return to re-select the tree. At that point the sapling parameter panel is gone, therefore I can no longer edit the parameters.

How do I get it back?

The sapling parameters are only available when you add a tree. Do any other operation and they will be gone
