Modeled in MagicaCSG, then exported to Blender for materials, textures, lighting and rendering with Cycles.

Inspired by a Riki Fuhrmann sketch.

Lighting test:

Test of EEVEE (Next) versus Cycles (right side of the slider)…

  • Switched the Cycles scene to EEVEE (Next) in the June 20 4.3 Alpha build.
  • Improved all EEVEE render settings and light settings I could find.
  • Light type remained Area light.
  • Didn’t change the materials or HDRI environment.

Very nice work Metin, the two render versions are interesting. For viewport work EEVEE is really nice but for final renders Cycles is still better.

Lovely work! Thanks for sharing the comparison. What were the differences in render times? What hardware are you running?

Thanks! EEVEE rendered way faster than Cycles. EEVEE rendered in a matter of seconds at a resolution of 1800 x 1350 pixels, with all render settings set to high quality.

Cycles took maybe 20 minutes or so in the same resolution, but I do have to mention that I used CPU rendering for Cycles, because I’m a rendering snob who likes to use Path Guiding, and my wife hates the loud noise of my GPU fans. :sweat_smile:
