save image after render

In my User preferences I have the Render Output directory set to a valid directory; C:\home\blahblah, likewise in the Properties window in the Output section. When I render an image with F12 and it’s finished I’m in the UV/Image Editor window. In there I can do Alt S (Save Image) and it gives me the error message “Cannot save image, path ‘’ is not writable.” I always have to do an F3 (Save As Image). (Which, grammatically I think should be Save Image As but I’m not really concerned about that at this point.) The path it’s complaining about, ‘’, is empty. How can I fix this?

The render output directory is for rendered animations (read its tooltip). To save a rendered image use the Image / Save as Image menu in the render window or in the compositor use a File Output node.

If you can’t write to a particular directory, check its permissions or save elsewhere

Ok, thanks. I just wanted to be sure there wasn’t some other setting I was overlooking.
