I have a set of clothing models that I’m refitting to a similar skeleton. I thought this would be an easy job - I would save the pose of the new skeleton, pose it to the same size as the old skeleton, bind the clothing to it, and then repose back.
But, that doesn’t work - the pose library seems to be relative to whatever the current rest pose is, so if I change the rest pose, it’s useless for this purpose.
Then, I thought, I would just duplicate the skeleton, then copy and paste the rest pose from one to the other. But nothing happens, because it’s doing the same thing - it’s only copying and pasting changes relative to the rest pose.
What I would like to do is:
- Save the rest pose.
- Modify the new armature to match the old armature. (I can do this by hand)
- Bind the clothing to the new rest pose.
- Restore the rest original rest pose.
There must be some way of doing this, surely?
Or is there another way to do this that I’m missing?
