Yes. Immediately if you parent another object to it, especially if you want to animate it.
Basic rule of thumb: before animating an object always apply scale and rotation (Ctrl-A).
thanks, but i mean if it makes a difference to scale an object right after creating it in edit mode or switching to object mode.
anyway, your answer is useful, i’ll try to remember that in the future
in edit mode, you can scale selected vertices; in object mode the whole thing is scaled uniformly. In edit mode, with all vertices selected, scaling is the same as in object mode, as long as your center is set to object center. If center is set to 3D cursor, then scaling in edit mode will puff/deflate the object differently than object mode.
short answer: yes, all things being equal.
