Scaling in material texttures

Is there currently any information in the materials concerning scaling? Someone showed a materials library which had beach sand in it, and I was thinking if it had scaling information in the material and one would create a plane which was 1m x 1m and added the material to it the sand grains would be proportionally sized.

Would this be a useful?

Don’t forget that you also need to increase/decrease bump or displacement nodes strength/scale proportionally along with texture scales (or mapping node scales).
