scaling in one direction

I have a cylinder with 3 or 4 bones, once i add it to my scene I want it to grow in length only I have tried scaling with manipulators but it distorts and still gets thicker.


Are you scaling with an animation? If you are, delete the axises you don’t need from the animation window. After adding a “Scaling” keyframe, expand it and delete the correct axises.

A normal object action will do the trick.

You do not need to remove the keyframes (which is still a nice solution) you can simply use in-homogene scaling to create keyframes e.g. <S> <X> <5>.

Be aware to avoid parenting anything to the scaled object. This can easily lead to unwanted side effects as the scaling will be inherited to all children.
