Scene keeps crashing blender

Hi, I’m having problems getting a scene that’s crashing blender whenever I try to render it. It seems to get to the exact same place and then stops working. When I disable rendering smoke the render works fine, but when I have it enabled blender will crash at a certain point in the render. Are there any known issues with smoke which could cause rendering to fail?

There are reflective and refractive materials in the scene, as well as some post processing with multiple render layers being done. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to upload the blend file (the upload tells me that it’s failing). I’ve uploaded a screenshot of when it failed.

Comp:
laptop with Intel I5 cpu, dedicated ATI 5650 graphics card, 4 GB RAM, windows 7 64-bit, build downloaded from graphicall (this one). I’ve also tried building blender myself and I’m running into the same problem (my build was a little older)

You could try rending half and then the other half (with render borders) or changing X/Y parts, perhaps try with a single core.

If all else fails start with a new empty file and go Shift + F1 (append) and select the scene from the blend that has it, then render the imported scene. If that fails, append one object at a time.
