Scene 'Time travel' april 2020

It’s a project i started to improve my general knowledge of the Blender software … So thanks for your help . I will try to improve that illustration, talking about time travel .
I really like bricks , so i used them on the back . I’m looking to go with crazy cartoon thing, so i tried to deform some objects and the machine itself . I’ll try to add a character in it . The atmosphere i want is mysterious , surrealistic

Hi! I noticed your wip thread and it’s come a long way, keep at it!
There’s a lot going on here and that makes it hard to focus on the time machine. Better framing/composition would help. The low angle is good but right now that fridge/safe on the right (or even the carpet) takes more screen space than the machine itself. Also, not seeing the top of the machine is weird.
For the mood, I don’t think the fog adds much, but lighting could. And in this case a lot less of it. Try things out, light the machine with a single spotlight and keep everything else in semi-darkness? Also think in terms of incidental lighting, could the glow of the screen be enough to make out the machine?
And then you could improve the machine. Like, is the user suppose to go inside it? (in which case is it big enough? Is there a door with hinges? a handle to open it?), how do you select the time to which you travel? Typing the year on a digipad with an LCD display or on the computer next to it? Make all those things obvious to the viewer and it’ll help a lot reading the picture.
Hope that helps, and good luck!
