School :(

Well its time that school starts :frowning: and I was wondering when your starts/ends and what grade your going into.
I got out june 12 (my birthday :)) and I have an orientation tomorrow. its my first year of high-school. actual school starts thursday though.
hopefully ill find some blender time but its going to be hard to do

All the best for school! Remember when you reach 40 years and have some kids of your own, you will think back and say that school was the best time of your life! I know you probably disagree with me . . . . but onwards on!

I go back to my transition program to start on living independently in 2 days, not like I was out all that much anyways, there was a summer program.

Anyway, have fun at the Highschool, you’ll sure like the cussy restroom graffiti, foul language teens that can make scenes that would please South Park characters, and jocks who’ll retaliate if you punch them.

you will think back and say that school was the best time of your life!

I had such a hard time not wanting to hurt teens who said foul language in Highschool I was out of the regular school before the first semester of my freshman year was up.

I miss high school. My first day in college starts next wensday. Most of my friends are seniors in highschool now and I miss being there with them. School for them started this week. It’s very weird how you can hate school so much until its all over then you miss it greatly.

gonna be a sophmore =] but still like a month till that starts

i start in 3weeks(September 2nd)…and i cant wait!..JOKING!!! i really hate school…but i really want to make it to collage to make it as a game artist

School is umm ok but only because you get to hang out with friends the worst part is home work :frowning: my sister had like two to 4 hours of homework sometimes but I think she averaged about 1.5 or 2 hours per day so if you work on it right after school like me there isn’t much daylight led

Edit: and how could I forget getting up at 5am

I start on September 2nd (or somewhere around then, i haven’t been paying to much attention). I am going into 10th grade.

This will be my last semester at the community college, as I will be completing my associates in generals, . This fall semester starts on the 20th unfortunately… I wish it was AFTER labor day. Oh well, I had a great summer this year. After this semester, which ends in early December, I will probably be off to a university to earn a real degree.

To all of you who are in or going into high school, my suggestion to you is this, GET INVOLVED! I sure wish I had… whether it is athletics, clubs, or academics; take your schooling seriously! I know, you already know that and you don’t care… Do well now so you don’t have to spend all of your money later.

Agreed, homework is horrible. I wouldn’t hate school so much if it wasn’t for the homework. And now they’re assigning it in the summer.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot. School starts right at the end of August. I’m going into 10th grade, sophomore year.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not SCHOOL!!!

Yea, same here.

Eew, the S word. And a whole thread about it!

School is a necessary evil to educate everyone that far that he is able to chose the right study where he can learn what he got intrested in during his prior education.

At lest thats what i feel when i look back at my schooldays. You learn tons of stuff you probably never need, beside at the exams, but they show you up possibilities… opportunities. It´s just up to everyone himself if it be a MacBurger job, or a study where you bloom and a job later you can wake up most of the days and looking forward to get to work.

Here in SA the school year corresponds with the calender year. That has always made more sense to me.
Anyway, back in my day, our schools were far more strict on discipline than most modern schools. We wore uniforms, had hair inspections and good old corporal punishments. I went to Paul Roos Gymnasium. Oh, and back then, it was also reserved for whites only…
It may not be politically correct, or effective in any way, but I did always prefer corporal punishment (of which I received plenty) to the alternatives, like detention, etc. In my day, teachers were not allowed to draw blood, elthough occasionally that did happen, but usually followed by some sort of hearing for said teacher. Now, my dad would tell us about back in his days  Now their hidings did sound a lot worse…
Oh, the good old days… I’m so glad its over.

how old are you

I think in all south hemisphere the school year is the same as the… year year
Oh, I finished school in 2002.

I didn’t learn much in our equivalent to High School (which we call Ensino Médio). It is mostly directed towards getting good grades at the Vestibular, the exam to get into university (at least the good ones). You “learn” formulas and other things but you don’t learn “why”.

If you don’t like homework, stay away from college. Or say good bye to the weekends, holidays and vacations. And with time it gets worse.
That is way older people always tell you not to complain, young people never listen to them because they think “but my situation is different, I’m not just another person which thinks he/she has problems, but is actually clueless”.

And that is way in a few years you will miss school, where everything was so easy, so simple

41 years of age

Next thursday for me. I’m going to be a High School Senior

Not exited about going. This vacation sucked, and it was more of a two and a half month long weekend. Going back wont be nerve-racking or exiting, just one more year until I graduate from Hell : /

That bad huh ?

We have a pizza joint called “Hell Pizza” - they could do with some free advertising from you.

Anyways, “too cool for school” is a popular term for kids wagging school.

For anything after my first semester in Highschool the alternate program I went through actually did not have much in the way of homework if there was any. Though later I did lessons on a computer program at home assigned by my teacher so technically all the work was homework:eyebrowlift:

But yeah, homework is evil, takes time away from things you enjoy.
