I don’t think I’ll pursue the project too much more, but for sure I’ll take it into gimp as soon as possible.
Forget the ZBlur. I think I configured something wrong, and it went screwy. So I’m just going to add depth of focus manually in Gimp as soon as I can get Xwindows working.
Then I’ll get it to look more photorealistic (Including making the sails the same shade, not medium grey and bright white) and other enhancing effects.

I don’t think you should add DOF, because that effect only appears when the camera is close to the objects, but this is a way large object and the camera is too far away.
Eric is right… without boring anyone… look up info of “field of view” or “f-stops” as they pertain to focus… (along with lens types i.e. 24mm, 50mm, etc…)
Convention dictates that a photograph taken of a ship like that in the picture would mosat probably be taken with a wide angle lens… and with the apparent distances of objects involved in the pic… focusing would be very minimal… However… if the picture had been taken with a very loooong lens (think telephoto) then the focusing would be major…
BTW… Good job… it seems everyone’s doing ships… ScottishPig started something here…
