Running on windows surface pro 7 the pixel/mesh/resolution makes the sculpt un-usable
Well I figured it out, there was a hidden drop down tab for smoothing normals, why that wasn’t default is probably to get idiots like to to look up two dozen how to videos on sculpting only for one strongly ukranian accented individual to mention the one thing I was looking for.
Is there a way to make it default? it always un-ticks on reload?
If you want blender to startup with the cube’s sculpt mode set to dynotopo then you need to enable it, then go to File > Defaults > Save startup file. This setting only works per object, and I should also mention that this wasn’t really the solution just a solution.
Dynotopo mode basically just dynamically tessellates the parts of your mesh you are sculpting on in order to add the resolution you need as you work. Sculpting starts to lag sooner with this mode enabled, and supposedly doesn’t work with all the new sculpting tools that were recently added.
The main issue was that you needed more polygons in order to get a smooth stroke. You can also do this by remeshing the object with a small voxel size (.05 or something), or by using the multiresolution modifer (you might encounter some bugs with the multires atm though).
