Sculpting a mouth?

Hey guys, I’m sure this is a dumb question, but what would be the best technique for sculpting a mouth for a character? I’m currently working on a model of a Terror Bird and I’ve been having some issues with it’s beak. Thanks in advance, Malio.

Maybe try to model it manually (at least a base so you can get a good shape) and as topology does not matter with dyntopo, boolean-merge it to the body before further sculpting on it ?
