The ocean background is also a geometry nodes setup, where the waves taper off as they get farther from the origin, and eventually the ocean is just a series of planes. The waves impacted the animation playback speed quite a bit, so I added an option to only show a single plane at the water level when viewed in the viewport.

I saw your WIPs on Mastodon and thought I recognized the general look of that setup because I recently did something very similar! Fun to see confirmation.

I hope Geometry Nodes get even more optimizations in the future so we can have better water in realtime all the way to the horizon.
