Selecting two contiguous loops without the in-between polygons

I am new, so its possible I am just asking something stupid.

But I would like to select loops without the in-between polygons.

Try using edge-ring selection when in edge-selection mode.
Ctrl-Alt-LMB

Now that I read your question again, I think I misunderstood it :smile:
You were probably fine just switching to edge-selection-mode and doing a normal loop-selection.
