Hi!
Is there a way to select specific UV-island borders only (without selecting the edges inside them)?
I’m trying to shape the UVs-islands into squares. Is there another technique?
Thx
You can hover your mouse cursor over a part of your mesh in the 3D view and press L to select all faces touching the part under your cursor. If you set the filter to “Seam” in the menu in the lower left corner Blender will stop at the UV boundaries.
If you then click on Select -> Select Loops -> Select Boundary Loop the face selection will be converted to only the boundary edge, which is your UV island’s border.
And, if your island borders aren’t seamed, you can make them that with UV/seams from island.
Can also select, from 3D view, a seamed edge, shift-g->seams to select all seams.
I don’t see a menu in the lower-left corner?? How do I filter to seam?
After you have pressed L, there should be a small box titled “Select Linked” in the lower left corner of your 3D view. Click on it to open it. The Seam filter is inside it.
