hello
normally when i press b , it would select everything along with what is behind it, recently ,i'm not sure what i did, but i stopped selecting what's behind as well, so when i try to select a ring, only one side is selected, what's going on?

there’s a hide backside button in edit mode that you clicked. It is just to the right of the vertices-edges-faces buttons set.
thank you so much for the quick reply, i can’t believe i missed that all together… but it works now
there's another small question i hope you can answer, i have a plane which i use for terrain, some times it would be nice if i can flatten an area, right now i have to click on each vertex and make sure they have the same z value, which takes a long time to do with a large area, is it possible for me to select a bunch of vertices and make them all have the same height ?
key S (scale), key Z (limit z dir), key 0 (flatten), return.
