Self-animated Rig?

Hello Blenderartists Community!
I´m modelling a human model atm and want to pre-ask a question:
I will have my two human models with a rig and animated, and a ground plane (passive). It should be some sort of short fighting, finally one character kicks the other off so he fall to the ground — I want the kicked character to act like a rigid body, that Blender simulate the fall with DEFORMATION while hitting the ground.

Is this possible? Just want to ask, because I don´t want to waste my time later if it´s not.
Thanks all of you beforehand, and have a nice christmas time!

Search youtube for “blender ragdoll physics”

does Blender have rag doll physics… ?

Yes…

Can Blender deform a Mesh when it hits a Ground plane… ?

Yes…

Will it take time to set all this up so it works properly… ?

Yes…

in fact I would say you might spend just about as much time key framing an animation like this than you would using physics…
however different people like using different tools to accomplish the same animated goal…

Are you wasting your time exploring how to do this in Blender… ?

I can tell you this from long experience… Blender has top of the line character animation tools… compared to the other softwares out there…
I have experience with Lightwave… 3DSmax… Maya… XSI…
I can tell you that you will waste just as much time trying to learn how to do this in any of the above as you will in Blender…

and if you learn how to do it in Blender… you will be able to do it in any of the others from that point on…
So I’m not quite getting where your coming from… when you say…

don´t want to waste my time later if it´s not.

sounds like some fanboy of one of these other softwares has told you something about them that is not true…
someone trying to ‘sell’ you something… that you probably don’t need…

in my experiece with all these softwares they all have their good points and bad points… and all the time I spent ‘learning’ the individual idiosyncrasies… I count it all as ‘experience’ that I later can use…

all these softwares can all do pretty much the same thing… as the years go by the more ‘allike’ they get… Yes there once was a time where one software was way ahead of the others… those days are long long long gone for 99% of all the stuff you will want to do with these softwares for pure animation…

learning how to use a tool is never a waste of time… wither we are talking Blender, Maya, Electric Drills, or a chopping Axe… (believe me most people don’t know how to use a chopping Axe)

Wow, calm down! I believe strongly that you know how to use a chopping Axe, literally!

I guess you just misunderstood me; I didn´t mean wasting my time while LEARNING how to use ragdoll physics. I didn´t know “fanboys” of other softwares or something.
I´m just a noob in Blender asking a question. I wanted to know “can Blender do what I want?” because I wanted to test ragdoll physics with a character I want to create. IF Blender couldn´t do it, I don´t want to waste my time SEARCHING FOR THIS FUNCTION (and building a character for it)!! Because building a model for hours, searching a function and finally find out that there isn´t one IS A WASTE OF TIME!
That´s what I meant, man! So there´s no need to freak out.

So calm down, enjoy your day and I wish you a happy new year!
