Separating particle faces?

I have a mesh of a bird…ALL one mesh. I have applied particles to it for the fur, but is there a way I can only apply the fur to part of it (the beak doesn’t need it)! :wink:

have the beak as a seperate object that way the fur particle system wont apply to the beak but will apply to the rest of the model
