Seperated Vertex Data in .blend

Hello,

i have downloaded a blend file from turbosquid. —> http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/free-human-eye-3d-model/677084

I am unable to render it without having a big black sphere where normally the iris should be.
What am i doing wrong?
Do i need to activate somewhere alphasettings?
Somehow the mesh is split up into two seperate units.
I cannot edit the eyeball, only the iris and backplane pupil surrogat.

Please Help"!

This is the render result of that .blend file after adding a few lamps:

What exactly is your issue with rendering that file?

And you can’t edit the eyeball because that part of the mesh is hidden: Tab into Edit mode and hit Alt-H to unhide.

Thanks… unhided it…
so i get this…

How do i get the black part transparent???
I thought it was all by default set by the authour of this file… but seems that i have to change some settings to get it to work…

I’m not sure what you’re doing there…
You said you had issues rendering the scene - and now you show a screenshot in texture view?
The scene you linked to was set up for Blender Render in Blender version 2.49b. But your screenshot seems to show Cycles material settings in a current Blender version.

How are the file author’s default settings supposed to work if you change everything?

you are right.
I thought anyways someone could help me.
the rendered cycles view gives the same black area.

Without knowing what you did to convert the materials to Cycles and what your node setups look like? How’s that supposed to work?

Anyway, here’s an example for a setup for the eyeball material + render result:

Thank you a lot.
I am sometimes a bit impatient with Blender when i didnt use it for a few months…
Also my back is freaking me out since a few days.
That material setup looks really realistic.
