Sequence oops!

Ok, so I set up my nice little hi-res fluid animation, gave it 3 hours to bake 100 frames, then let it render over night at 1680x1050. I wake up this morning and oh boy, it’s beautiful! So I throw all the images into the sequence editor, and render it as an AVI raw into the same folder that all the images are squentially numbered in. A moment later it’s done and I watch the animation. Looks nice, buy hey wait isn’t that supposed to be 1680x1050? So I go back into the sequence editor and realize I (I think I do) have to change the resolution to 1680x1050 up from the default 800x600 in which the first video was in. So, did that, pressed the “do sequence” button, changed the output directory to the one all the images are in, and deleted the 800x600 animation from before. Hit animate and then a few seconds later, all the images in my folder have been saved over with black 1680x1050 images. After a little bit of being pissed off I figured whatever, you live and you learn. So here I am to learn, what did I do??? Maybe I didn’t set the output to be a AVI raw the second time and left it as jpeg? I really don’t know. I was able to recover the 800x600 animation (just not the same ) and I do still have a single still from before I rendered each one.

sequence oops and double post oops.

this is going to sound dumb, but if you had originally toggled the ‘do sequence’ button ‘on’ to render the original sequence but at the wrong image size, when redoing the sequence you say you hit ‘do sequence’ button again, wouldn’t that toggle it back off, then if you have for example no default light in your 3D scene you would get black images.

btw nice fluid image

Thanks, and yes I think the error was something to do with the “do sequence” button. Now I’m working on a similar but larger and higher res simulation. Sorry about the double post, I thought for some reason it didn’t go through because I didn’t see it on the forums after several hours.

Thanks again.
