Sequencer Error "Invalid number of channels 6"

Hi,
used the sequencer for video editing, everything worked fine, up to one point where I changed something, not to be changed.
Now it says “Invalid number of channels 6, must be <=2” in an error message when trying to render the animation; I couldn’t find any information how to fix this anywhere.
I believe the error started appearing after I clicked on (and thereby enabled) the “h.264” output preset.

Here are some things I then tried:

  • deleted all audio
  • deleted all sequencer tracks except 1 video and 1 audio track (channels 0 and 1)
  • tried countless of video audio ouput combinations (though I may have skipped some)
  • tried the latest, as well as the latest stable build
Then, here’s what solves it for me:
I have to choose any preset from the encoding presets! After that I can reset all options from “Output”, “Encoding”, and “Dimensions” and the error is gone although I seemingly have the exact same setting as before.

Is this a bug, is there an actual fix? It would be nice if someone could post some insight for all the people who encounter this in the future.

Check audio tracks are not above stereo (which is 2 tracks). Check the audio in scene management.

Which version or build sre you using? Perhaps there is a bug in preset combinations. This has happened in the past.
