when i try to render a scene (im a newbie) back to back or after i make small changes blender crashes my computer! and when i try to load a texture to add it to a mesh windows(xp) shuts it down!! I CANT ADD TEXTURES!! please help!
Which version of Blender are you running.
The most stable versions seem to be 2.23 Creator and 2.25 Publisher.

No, but 2.23 has functions that 2.27 doesnt have. I use XP and have had no drama. I was going to suggest that you download Blender again, but IMHO 2.23 is more than you need as a newbie and is probably more stable than the rest.

You can get all the old versions at blender.org.
I mainly use 2.25, but have to use 2.23 for certain Python scripts. I can’t get 2.27 to run on my machine, it crashes when the GUI trys to load.
2.25 and 2.23 are the best all rounders at the mo, 2.25 has the fully working game engine too, but 2.26 tophu and 2.27 don’t have the game engine in.

correction, Tuhopuu has the game engine, ans no less than 2 physics engine (Ton’s Enji and ODE).

I had similar problems in Linux for a time, so this may not help you. When I would try to add a texture to a mesh, Blender would blink out of existence. So in the user options I just added the path where most of my textures would be, then I was able to add them. Now all is working well with all versions. Currently using Tuhoppu.

sorry cant help you buddy. ive been using 2.26, and had no troubles with it.

I’ve only had one problem with 2.27. Whenever I try to add an image texture to a world, it crashes.
