Serious Problem!!!!

(erich) #1

I was trying to save a blend file when a dialog appeared regarding a serious error requiring program shut down. Now I can not start blender. The same error appears and it shuts down again. I have tried rebooting the system. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling blender, but I get the same error. WHAT IS WRONG!

Thanks.

Oh Crap! :o

Sounds like you need to reinstall more than Blender.

It may be time to backup everything and reistall Windows, sort of “Clean house”. Check your hard drive first with full scandisk to see if any files are allocated or corrupted.

Find B.blend and delete it. It won’t be deleted by an uninstall so you have to do it manually. Then restart Blender.

Fligh is most likely right the B.blend file is corrupt and deleting is should let blender start normally. I would also scan the hard drive to make sure that there are no problems with it as Spin suggests.

Do you mean the “.B” blend file?

(Modron) #8

It’s in your main blender folder, inside the subfolder .blender. go into the .blender folder, and right click on the file called .B.blend, and choose ‘delete’. this won’t delete anything crucial, it will just cause blender to revert to it’s default settings. then the next time you close, it will make a new .B.blend file.

Thanks. I uninstalled Blender. Then deleted the Blender Foundation folder. Then reinstalled. NOW IT WORKS!!! YEAAAAAA!

Thanks, everyone.
