Serious problems with renders (Yafray and Indigo)

So I have a nearly finished model I’ve been working on for some time.

I’ve been using the Blender internal renderer to do quick renders and check my work (my system is slow so using the internal is quicker) but now I go to make a high quality render and YafRay won’t show any of the textures I’ve used (I’ve tried redoing the texture datablocks, didn’t work) so I move on tho Indigo and it cuts up my meshes and moves my tex’s…no easy way to describe it but to say it looks like bad modern art. What the heck am I doing wrong?

did you try the new blend2pov ? https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=58027 from I can tell it’s better than yafray , and on my comp it renders faster and the images are more realistic (especially glass)

first, you should check the image-format (maybe you use an unsurported format), jpg works fine with yafray.

with Ubuntu Breezy Yafray 0.0.7 (maybe other OSs too) couldn’t load files from other directories, but it’s fixed in 0.0.8

PS: keep in mind, that Yafray is rendering two times faster in Linux than XP (my own experiance), if you don’t already know that ;). (Yafray should be self-compiled in Ubuntu to render cleaner).

bodi-

I used a .tiff file for part of it, but the problem is that NONE of the materials & textures will load, I get the default grey mesh with YafRay (ver 0.0.8) and like I said before, Picasso with Indigo(ver 0.4).

from yafray’s FAQ http://wiki.yafray.org/bin/view.pl/UserDoc/FaqEng :

Q01: Why do my textures not work?

A: You may have chosen an unsupported image format. YafRay only supports a limited set of texture formats, which are Targa (.tga), Jpeg (.jpg), Radiance (.hdr/.pic) and OpenEXR (.exr). That is, when you have compiled with all libraries in place! OpenEXR and Jpeg require additional libraries, as all other non-trivial formats would too. Take into account that Blender packed textures without a valid path won’t work as well, and that you will need to unpack them first.

so tiff is not supported. Some proceduals like stucci are not supported too.
And maybe you have to reload your image textures.

Hope, this helps. Otherwise you can post your .blend-file or send me a pm (if it’s smaller than 15MB)
