Setting a Python path in blender

Hi,
I’ve been trying to use Ter2blend which requires the full version of Python.
I have Installed Python 2.5 and have followed instuctions on the Ter2blend website on how to set a path for python in blender and it doesn’t seem to work. I’m new to Python and am pretty stuck at the moment. Can anyone help?
Thanks

i think python 2.5 doesn’t work. try the older version 2.43) instead

hi, that is right, on windows, Blender2.42a & Python 2.4.3. with this combination it is not needed to set the Python Path as Blender will automatically find Python.
The script still works ok, I have had some trouble with it importing the terragen textures. and background.
If any one has a solution to this I would be happy to hear it.
One work around I use is to Import the Terragen Mesh first. Then in Terragen position the camera so the sky is not visible and render a reasonably flat terrain. This can then be used as a texture for the mesh with quite good results.
For the sky you could do similar by positioning the camera high in Terragen and rendering the sky only. Similar for water. This can then be used in Blender a few ways.
1> Background Texture, some settings may need to be tweaked to get a good result.
2> Use a plane for the texture and position the plane as the background, pretty good result.
3> Scale a sphere so the landscape is inside it and the texture will appear as the background. some settings may need to be tweaked to get a good result. but this can work well if done right. as the camera can be moved or the texture animated to make the clouds move.
Really for Clouds I now use large resolution photos as this looks better.
Anyway if you would like to see some results I have many Terragen renders on my site.

Here’s a teaser, composite Terragen/Blender/Gimp used the script and the above sphere method.

Hope this helps. M.A.

I was trying to do the same thing a while ago.
