Setting groups of vertices to the same Z offset/position

I would like to know if it is possible to select multiple vertices on a plane and set all of them to the same Z position.

For example, if I have an object in edit mode with a perimeter and circles in the middle of the plane, I often find that all of these vertices are not exactly at Z=0. If I select individual vertices and set them at 0 in the item tab, all is good. They move to 0. If I select say half a circle and set 0 in the item tab, they may get close to 0, but will not be exact.

I hope this makes sense. I mostly model parts with flat surfaces and bolt holes or slots in that flat surface, and for whatever reason, the positions of the vertices are not right at 0. If I have a flat plane and extend a circular tube through it, then use a intersect knife, the vertices vary in position.

If there is a way to select all the vertices that should be in that plane and set them to the exact position, please let me know.

Thank you.

Select vertices > press S > press Z > press 0

Thank you. I will try this when I get back into a project tomorrow.

To set all selected vertices to Z=0 via the scale trick the Pivot Point must be set to 3D Cursor and also be on Z=0 (or Active Element and selecting last a vertex on Z=0) else it would be set to “midair” (Median Point, Bounding Box Center with weird results by Individual Origins).

Thank you very much, this worked correctly, putting all vertices spot on.
