Setting up a colored specularity map in 2.5

How do I set up a colored specularity map in 2.5 so that it affects both the materials specular color and intensity? It seems that if I try to add the color then all specularity just disappears.

Thanks!

In the ‘map to’ panel in materials, change that texture channel to ‘csp’. ( color specularity )

As I said:

So there is no Csp in 2.55 and the specular color slider doesn’t seem to work.

Thanks anyway!

You also need to adjust material’s specular intensity value to 0, now your specular texture will fully affect the specular intensity.

If your material’s specular intensity is for example, 0.8, then your specular texture’s specular intensity values 0-1 will be 0.8-1 so if you set material’s specular intensity to 0, also your specular texture’s spec intensity will be from zero to one. Make sure your specular color in texture is bright enough, if it’s same color as diffuse but darker, then it might be difficult to see.

If I am incorrect then please someone correct me. These are just things what I have find out by testing.

Here I’ve uploaded small blend of a coin which might not be the best one to show specular color but anyways should show you how I have it set up. Just move the light to see specular color.

Thanks, I’ve got it working now. It seems that if you want your spec map to affect color as well, you’ll have to make it a lot brighter.
