Njrotc: You honestly think people around the world are angry at us because they’re jealous of our powerful world position? You make this huge big long statement about how the US, ever since it’s birth, has done nothing but fight everyone. Up until and including WW2 we had good reasons for fighting - People were attacking us. What country has openly attacked the US since? No one wants to fight us anymore because they know we’ll hand them their ass. And i;m fine with that.
But since then we’ve used our powerful position to corrupt the rest of the world. Yes, corrupt. There is a lot of anti-American sentiment popping up very recently for one very good reason: Our empire is on the brink of utter collapse, and most of the people living here are blissfully unaware because the talking heads on TV keep telling them “everything will be OK”. but we’ve done nothing but go downhill since the 40’s, on every single front. Economically, socially, morally, etc, etc.
When it was established, the USA was a beacon of hope to millions of people around the world, who came here to build themselves a life where in their own countries they could not do so. But we, as a nation, have evolved into a selfish nation. No longer a beacon of hope, we are a fist of demand. People hate us around the world because we force them to do things they don’t want to do. We have, effectively, enslaved the world. Now the slaves are breaking free, and it’s no wonder they are shoving it in our faces and gloating about it. We’ve been screwing them all over for the past 50 years. And it’s the fault of the politicians who have been given far too much power by people such as yourself. Easily pacified by this blind patriotic bullshit that gets crammed down kids throats.
Of course, you see us as the good guys. We ride in and save the day and the townfolk are all happy to see us. We’re the bad guys, man. We topple the governments of sovereign nations to set up our own US-friendly dictatorships. We’ve been doing that for decades, and now it’s all coming back to bite us in the ass. It doesn’t help that people like yourself are so eager to swallow the bullshit spewed about how leaving Iraq = “surrendering” or how, if I don’t support the war I’m not a true patriot.
if being a ‘true patriot’ means handing over my entire existence to a government that - admittedly - wants to do nothing but create war after war after war, then no,… I am not a true patriot. The difference between the US back when we WERE the good guys and the US as it stands today is the fact that before we would wait for the fight to come to us. Now we go looking for them.
EDIT: AHAHAHA you posted that one about 2 seconds too early
