shading in the game engine. uv maps

hello everyone. Whenever I add a UV texture map to my models, shading disappears. In the materials section I have shadless unchecked. Is there a way to get shading back?

Do you have a light in your scene?

lol nm i found my problem. in the diffuse settings under material I had ramp checked. not exactly sure what ramp does but unchecking it fixed it.
